Alain Michel is one of the last surviving French framebuilders working exclusively with steel tubing, although he has produced frames with carbon rear triangles bonded onto a steel main triangle.
Based at Fontenay-sous-Bois in the eastern suburbs of Paris, it is suggested that he trained with the renowned builder Bernard Carre. Among his clients figures Greg Lemond for whom Michel built road frames in Excell tubing.
