concorde Italy
"Concorde is a Dutch company that had their bikes manufactured by Ciocc in Italy and re-badged with their "seagull-C" logo. They sponsored PDM back when that team was a major powerhouse fielding riders like Erik Breukink"

Big Migs hour record 1994
53.040 Miguel Indurain ESP Bordeaux 02.09.1994 59x14=8,76m
When Miguel Indurain announced to attack the hour record, the magazines predicted a sensational mark of 55 or 56 km/h. But some experts were more cautious, because Indurain's aerodynamic position on the bike was very poor - his head is very high in the air, always well above his shoulders
The actual attempt was finally well below 55 or 56 km/h. He started very slow and needed 20 km to match up with Graeme Obree's split times. After reaching an average speed of 53 km/h, he slowed down again and needed a sudden outburst between 30 and 35 km to stay above 53 km/h. He used a Pinarello carbon bike with a very aerodynamic frame and Campagnolo disc wheels.

this week on ebay- ORBEA
a time trial bike that participated in the 1989 Tour de France. This bike has originally been built up by/for the Austrian professional Helmut Wechselberger. On this bike he achieved a 7th and an 11th place in his best stages of the TdF
The bike is equipped with Campagnolo C-Record and Shimano Dura Ace components. But please see the extra-ordinary Interdrive crankset. It simply looks gorgeous in my opinion. I have heard that a German manufacturer produced these cranks back then - the idea is the same as on the Shimano Biopace cranks

British time trialling from the 80s
A few images of my man David Mckellow (Polytechnic CC)
1/. Nelson low pro, built in Wales of Ishiwata 017 - probably a bit light
2/. Same frame - it had a brace behind the headtube to reduce flex in the forks
3/. Shorter low pro with 24 inch front wheel and Modolo rear brake fitted under the bracket
4/. Tom Board built Shorter - Columbus SLX - this frame was a road going version of Colin Sturgess's pursuit
frame - sadly the images don't really show it that well but the frame had many trick (for it's day) aero gussets and extensions
5/. Same frame, following season now finished in flourescent red with disk wheel
6/. Barry Chick built Condor - 26 in front wheel and one of the first of the tri bar era

Tony Rominger hour record. Velodrome du Lac, Bordeaux. 55.291
His first test riding on the track ended with a crash, because he had no experience riding a fixed gear bike. But after a remarkably short time these problems where gone. For his first attempt no spectators and TV where allowed. Rominger wasn't shure if his performance would be worth it ....
But he improved Miguel Indurain's record by almost 800 meters! Knowing that he could ride faster he did more testing, riding 30 minutes with an average speed of 54km
the 5th of november he started his second attempt. This time there where spectators and a Live-TV coverage on Eurosport. I will never forget the excitement during that hour. Starting incredible fast, he smashed all previuos lap-times, riding with more than 55 km/h. Without any major problems he could even increase his speed in the last minutes. With 55.291 km he improved his own record by more than 1.4 km, but Indurain's mark by 2.251 km!
